“Happy Pride” Allies Welcome!

Please join us in wishing “Happy Pride” to all who promote love and acceptance, acknowledge the diversity of identities within the LGBTQ+ community and advocate for equal rights.

At Ibis, we amplify the LGBTQ+ community and its leadership in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.  This is a great month to reflect on the empowerment of this marginalized community by:

  • The historically crucial roles that LGBTQ+ leaders like Marsha P Johnson, Bayard Rustin, Audre Lourde, and Harvey Milk fulfilled as civil rights activists to advance equality and justice for all;

  • The LGBTQ+ leaders in the global community working every day to combat discrimination, promote acceptance and address human rights violations;

  • LGBTQ+ leaders in organizations and to each person in every organization who has been instrumental in advancing equality for LGBTQ+ individuals,

  • And all the allies, everywhere, who have worked to lift up these leaders.

HAPPY PRIDE!

Spotlight: Pride in Our Workplace

This month, we’re excited to take the opportunity to amplify the work of Pride In Our Workplace (PIOW), New England’s premier organization championing LGBTQ+ Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Pride In Our Workplace was founded with a mission to provide all LGBTQ+ professionals with ways to amplify their voices and create thriving workplace cultures.  PIOW centers the LGBTQ+ perspective and helps LGBTQ+ professionals and organizations drive positive change through thought leadership, professional development, networking and community building and DEI strategy.

PIOW also offers a Community Grant Program, directing sponsorship dollars to provide direct financial support to underfunded nonprofits and grassroots organizations making (or aspiring to make) an impact on members of the LGBTQ+ community.

In celebration of Pride Month, on June 26th at 2:00 PM ET, Ibis will be partnering alongside PIOW to present our inaugural live webinar, "I Thought Everyone Knew". This webinar aims to foster understanding and empathy around navigating difficult conversations in regard to supporting LGBTQ+ colleagues in the workplace throughout Pride Month and beyond. It will also serve as a glimpse of insight into how our virtual sessions are conducted.

 Facilitated by PIOW Co-Founder & Former President, John Basilie & Ibis Senior Consultant & Special Projects Lead, Amberine Huda, come and join the celebration!

How Can Your Organization Grow?

For organizations anywhere on the DEI journey, anywhere in the world, Ibis is ready to help! The data-driven and systemic approach to assessments at Ibis, using creative modalities and effective, results-oriented training supports organizations of all sizes and areas of focus.

As a foundation to its multi-faceted approach, Ibis uses the Inclusive Organization Framework, a model that provides a comprehensive and systemic overview of the organization, while highlighting systems, practices and approaches that are critical to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.

It has been used with clients with as many as 100,000+ employees and as few as 50 across many industries such as financial services, healthcare and transportation. It is a valuable framework for assessing and delivering on an organization’s commitment to its culture, employee engagement and marketplace alignment.

Whether it’s about offering comprehensive benefits for LGBTQ+ employees and their families, building a corporate culture where every employee feels like a valued team player, to extending beyond the workplace into broader societal impacts and community engagement, the Ibis Inclusive Organization Framework and 300+ best practices provide support for organizations looking for consultation, learning and development and guidance.

Speaking of Best Practices?

There’s a lot to learn from leaders who empower LGBTQ+ individuals.

Included in their range of best practices is to:

  • Offer comprehensive benefits for LGBTQ+ employees and their families

  • Engage LGBTQ+ employee input in the review of organizational policies and practices to ensure they foster an inclusive environment

  • Actively promote and support employee resource groups (ERGs) and their leadership

  • Seek to make every employee feel like a valued team player

  • Provide allyship learning and development experiences for individuals, managers and teams to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ employees.

  • Support the professional growth and development of LGBTQ+ employees for advancement in the organization.

  • Capitalize on opportunities to engage with the LGBTQ+ community in their procurement and vendor practices

  • Partner with and sponsor LGBTQ+ community organizations in their community engagement strategy

  • Engage beyond the workplace into broader societal impact, such as advocating for LGBTQ+ equality and human rights on their global platforms.

Which best practices are in action in your organization?

Which do you think could be a new addition in 2024-’25?
