Michael Lawrence

Director of Operations

Michael (he/him) has dedicated his entire career to education, working across diverse environments that include urban, suburban, and rural classroom teaching, as well as curriculum development and student and faculty service in higher education. Currently, Michael serves as the Director of Operations at Ibis, where since 2016, he has leveraged his extensive experience to streamline processes, contribute to a wide variety of Ibis projects both client-facing and internal, and ensure the smooth functioning of multiple aspects of the business.

With a 19-year tenure at Harvard University, Michael advised undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty across multiple departments and schools. His role at Harvard also involved traveling nationwide to connect with students and families from underrepresented backgrounds, encouraging them to apply to the University and supporting their transition once they arrived. Michael played a key role in developing programs and curricula to support these students, collaborating closely with both students and administrators.

Michael holds a B.A. from Union College in Schenectady NY, and an Ed.M. in Teaching & Curriculum from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Outside of Ibis, Michael is passionate about travel and exploration, particularly by bike! He is a dedicated cyclist and each summer since 2018 has ridden in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise critical funding for cancer research as well as programming for cancer patients and their families. He enjoys brushing up on his foreign language skills and has a deep enthusiasm for plants and landscape design.
